Marital Disturbances After Childbirth: A Jyotish Analysis of the 2nd–5th House Axis and Putra Karaka–Dara Karaka Conflict
Putrajanmānantara Dampatya-Kleśa: Dvitīya-Pañcama Bhāva Doṣa evaṃ Putra-Kāraka–Dāra-Kāraka Virodhāt Utpanna Vivāha-Vighnaḥ
Introduction
In Jyotiṣa Śāstra, Putrajanma (childbirth) is generally considered auspicious and a source of expansion of lineage (vaṁśa-vṛddhi). However, in many horoscopes, it is observed that after childbirth, the harmony of married life declines.
This is not accidental. It is the result of Bhāva-sambandha (house interconnection) and Kāraka-virodha (conflict of significators).
- Dvitīya Bhāva → Kutumba (family stability)
- Pañcama Bhāva → Putra (child)
- Saptama Bhāva → Kalatra (spouse)
- Putra-Kāraka → Child significator (Jaimini)
- Dāra-Kāraka → Spouse significator
When these factors are mutually afflicted or improperly connected, Putrajanma becomes a karmic activation point.
Dvitīya–Pañcama Bhāva Sambandha with Affliction
Explanation
When:
- Pañcameśa occupies Dvitīya Bhāva
- or Dvitīyeśa occupies Pañcama Bhāva
- and the combination is afflicted (pāpa-dṛṣṭi or pāpa-yoga)
Then:
After childbirth, disturbance arises in family harmony.
Reasoning
- Dvitīya = Kutumba-sustenance
- Pañcama = Putra
Their connection shifts the emotional axis toward the child.
Affliction transforms this into imbalance.
Dvitīyeśa–Pañcameśa in Duṣṭhāna
Explanation
When:
- Dvitīyeśa and Pañcameśa are conjoined
- and placed in:
- Ṣaṣṭha (6th)
- Aṣṭama (8th)
- Dvādaśa (12th)
Then:
Marital harmony suffers after childbirth.
Duṣṭhāna Effects
- Ṣaṣṭha → Kalaha (conflict), ṛṇa (burden), roga (stress)
- Aṣṭama → Sudden transformation, emotional instability
- Dvādaśa → Vyaya (loss), separation, detachment
Putra-Kāraka and Dāra-Kāraka Virodha (Jaimini)
Explanation
If:
- Putra-Kāraka and Dāra-Kāraka occupy each other’s signs
- They are mutually inimical
- Weak in Navāṁśa
- Influenced by Jñāti-Kāraka
Then:
Severe marital disturbance arises after childbirth.
Jñāti-Kāraka signifies:
- Kalaha (conflict)
- Virodha (opposition)
- Vyavahāra (disputes)
When it influences Putra-Kāraka and Dāra-Kāraka:
- Conflict intensifies
- Disputes increase
- External interference becomes prominent
(Subtle Insight)
Putra-Kāraka and Dāra-Kāraka sambandha may indicate:
- Pre-marital attraction or love marriage
However:
After Putrajanma:
- The same sambandha becomes a field of conflict
Reason:
- Earlier → Rāga (attraction)
- Later → Kartavya (responsibility)
While analyzing a chart:
- Examine Pañcama Bhāva and Pañcameśa
- Examine Dvitīya Bhāva and Dvitīyeśa
- Check:
- Mutual sambandha
- Pāpa-dṛṣṭi or pāpa-yoga
- Duṣṭhāna placement
- Apply Jaimini:
- Putra-Kāraka vs Dāra-Kāraka
- Navāṁśa strength
- Jñāti-Kāraka influence
Putrajanma is not the cause of marital disturbance.
It is the nimitta (trigger).
It activates:
- Latent karmic imbalance
- Emotional asymmetry
- Responsibility conflict
Thus:
(The fault is not in the child, but in the karma indicated in the horoscope.)
